About the event
The Jackson Hole Global Forum: Climate and National Security will bring U.S. and global military leaders, security professionals, business executives, and policy leaders to advance policy and business steps that respond to the security implications of a changing climate. Consistent with the advice of recent Defense Secretary James Mattis, who argued for a “whole-of-government response” to climate change, the Forum will assess climate change risks to national and global security; identify ways to prepare for climate change risks to national and global security; and examine steps to support partner nation resilience to climate change risks. Through sessions that examine climate and security through global, national, and local lens, the Forum will strengthen public awareness and political support to respond. Specifically, the key insights and recommendations resulting from the Forum and related dialogues will contribute to the climate change and national security policymaking at the national level with the U.S. Senate. Anticipated policy recommendations will be how national, state, and local level leaders can mitigate the risks of climate change to critical infrastructure and military installations and surrounding communities, and what this means for military readiness, national security, and global engagement.
